The well-pleasing nafs
Al-nafs al-marḍiyya — 'the well-pleasing nafs'. Drawn from marḍiyyatan in Q 89:28; the complementary station to rāḍiya, distinguished by the divine acceptance of the nafs (the nafs is now well-pleasing TO God). The pair rāḍiya / marḍiyya are sometimes treated as two faces of one station.

Sirhindī, Maktūbāt I.260 (First Daftar, Letter 260), supplies the Mujaddidi reading of marḍiyya as divine acceptance of the refined nafs. This later technical distinction should be read alongside, not as a replacement for, Qur'an 89:28.
