Pneumatic vehicle

Luminous carrier of the soul

The pneumatic vehicle is the innermost shell and represents the luminous carrier language that becomes more explicit in later Neoplatonic discussions. Its proximity to the centre is an ordering metaphor for refinement, not a claim that pneuma is a physical tissue or a fixed human organ.

Plotinus, Enneads IV.4 (Problems Connected with the Soul), IV.4.1–5 (primary_canonical)

Enneads IV.4.1–5 provides the soul-and-cosmic-process context for luminous and pneumatic vehicle language; the nested shell is a visual synthesis rather than a textual anatomy.
